Neopets Calculators!

Introducing Calculators! These are some handy tools that you can use to calculate either how much NP you'll earn from something or how much it will cost to do something. Specific, I know.

Anyway, we're starting off with three basic calculators. One is Bank Interest, which will calculate how much interest you can earn per day with a certain amount of NP. Another is Pound Adoption, which will calculate how much it'll cost to adopt a pet. The third is Shop/Gallery Upgrade, which will calculate how much it will cost to upgrade your shop or gallery to a certain level.

Like I said, we're starting off with these three calculators, but we hope to have more calculators available soon to help you become a more efficient Neopets player.

Nutty Rainbow layout change

You may have noticed that Nutty Rainbow, our guide to Neopet colours, has been down for most of the day. That's because we've been making some improvements to the layout.

If you visit Nutty Rainbow now, you'll notice that the layout's changed. Instead of a menu on the left, we've moved all the links to a handy navigation bar on the top.

Under Tools, you'll find links to the pet viewer and settings.
Under Pages, you'll find links to the content pages - petpet lab ray, petpetpets, famous/infamous petpets, and more.
Under Departments, you'll find a link to the NNoN homepage and to our various departments, including the Commentary and the Forums.
Under Account, you'll find a few quicklinks to things you can do with your account - logout, editing your profile, and more (or a link to login and a forgot your password page if you are not logged in.)

We've also changed the pet/petpet part of the layout. Because we've gotten rid of the menu, we can fit 4 pets per row, making pages shorter and easier to browse. Also, when you visit a pet's page - for example, the Brown Eyrie, you'll notice we've moved some things around so that the page is shorter.

Commentary and settings update

Hey Nutters! I have two quick updates for you today.

Commentary update - Lava, our commentator, has posted a quick update at the Nutty Commentary. A "duty" joke is included. :)
Settings now work again! Head on over if you want to customize NNoN a bit. We'll be adding more options in the future! (If you had set custom settings before, you'll need to set them again. Sorry!)

Oh, and we're still hard at work on the secret project, which we're aiming to release in several weeks!

The NNoN redesign is now live!

As you can see, NNoN's layout has received a small facelift. This was the "redesign" we've been beta testing with our users for the past several weeks. We're happy to say that we're finally releasing it to everyone!

As you can see, we've changed a lot. Below are some of the major changes we've made.

Better accessibility. NNoN should look the same in every major browser - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and the new Google Chrome! Plus, everything should look good and in place.
A larger default font size. We've upped the content font size to 11px from 9px to make the text easier to read. We've also upped the sidebar font size to 10px. If that's still too small, you can change it! Keep reading to find out how.
An easier way to go home. Just click the top banner to go straight to the homepage!
Faster load times. We've optimized our images, Javascript, and CSS to ensure that NNoN loads as quickly as possible. We don't want you to wait a long time for your content to load.

Now on to the fun part. If you have Javascript enabled, you can try out these spiffy features:

Instant theme switching. Just pick a theme from the right sidebar and your theme will change instantly!
Font size changing. No more squinting! Just press the + or - buttons under the theme switcher to change the font size. Plus, NNoN will remember what font size you pick! If you ever make the font size too big, you can now click the "reset font size" link to...well, reset your font size.
Collapsing. You can now hide and show some parts of the layout! Here they are:
- Click the left sidebar headings (such as "Main", "Departments", etc.) to collapse sections of the left sidebar.
- Click the top bar of the Affiliates box to collapse the affiliates.
- Click the small black arrow on the right side to hide or show the right sidebar!

If you come across a page and you'd like us to make it look better (the redesign made a lot of pages look bad), just click the "Tell us" link on the right sidebar and a report will automatically be sent to us.
