The Shops ~ Made by Ari And Yelly (NNoN Staff)

The next link we are going to explore is the shops like. The center. The center of the neopets world, and the center of commerce and excitement in neopia. From the shops you are linked to all of your neopets needs and desires. This guide should help you navigate through all these strange places. :-P

Navigation

The Top Side Bar

The first picture is a picture of what seems to a type of fruit or something like that. If you click it, it wil take you to your "inventory." You will arrive at a page that has several links, on top and items on the bottom. We won't be exploring those links on the top in this guide since they often change... =( Sorry.

Here you can access all of your items and do what you like with them. There will be a series of a pictures on the bottom showing you all the items you currently posses (if any). If you click on an item, a pop up window will apear with many different options you can choose to do different things with that specific item (figure 3). Here are the list of the choices:
  • The first option will be, if it is a food item, to feed the item to one of your pets. This option will feed your pet the item, and the item will disappear forever.
  • The next option will be to deposit your item in you "Safety Deposit Box." This feature will place the item in your Safety Deposit Box and keep it more "safe" from ghosts and other creatucres that may "steal" your items. You can access your safety deposit box by clicking the picture of a safe on the far right of the yellow bar with images on the top of the screen.
  • The next option is to "donate" the item. This option sends the item to a donation tree (Which we will visit later) which you can access by clicking the image of a tree to the left of the image of a safe on the yellow bar. The next option will be to discard the item.
  • This makes the item DISAPEAR FOREVER. No one will ever be able to re-claim this items, so only choose it if you are sure of what you are doing.
  • The next option will be to put the item into your shop where you can sell it. We won't learn too much in-depth about shops in this tutorial since we already have our own shop guide which you can see by clicking here.
  • The next option is to give the item to a neofriend. This feature only works if you have atleast oone neofriend. It allows you to send items to other users.
  • The final option is to put the item up for auction. We will learn more in depth about auctioning items later.

--------------------------------------------------------------

The next button on the top yellow bar takes you to your shop. You will arrive at a page with several links which we will explore. This is where items end up if you choose the

There are a series of text links on the top below the yellow link bar. If you click the first one titled, "Create/Edit a Shop", you can create your very own shop. It costs 150 nps (the Neopian currency) to open a shop, but in the long run, it is very much worth it. Here, you can enter a shop name, choose a shopkeeper, a greeting, and if you choose, you can enter some HTML or text to make your shop pretty. Then, at the bottom of the page, click the button entititled, "Create Shop," and you will own your own shop. You can come back to this page as often as you want to update your shop layout, shopkeeper, or greating.

The next link on the top should read "Stock." This takes you to the page where all your items in your shop are resting. Here you can remove items from your shop or price items to be sold. When you are done pricing items, simply scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "update" button to update all prices. There are also scroll down bar on the far right of each item. You can choose a number here to choose how many of that specific item you would like to remove from your shop and send back to your inventory.

The next top link is a link with the words, "Shop Till." Here is where the nps go when you sell an item. You can come here to pick up your nps.

The next top link is "Sale History." This will take you to a page that shows what users have purchased items from your shop, what they purchased, the date they purchased it on, and the price they paid. This page only lists items that have been bought for 1000 nps or higher.

The next top link is "Quick Stock." This takes you to a page which shows all your items in your inventory. You can send items to different places on this page, but a much quicker rate. If you are confused for what each feature means, see the previous section.

The next top link is titled, "Shop Front." This is what your shop looks like when a user visits your shop. It displayes your greating, shopkeeper, any HTML, and any items you currently have for sale.

The next top link is entititled, "Shop Blogs." This takes you to a page with blogs that neopets has created for users to use in their shops. You can copy and paste the code for the shop blog you like in the HTML section of your "Create/ Edit a Shop" page. It will add the snazzy blog to your shop. Of course, you can also find awesome blogs by clicking here.

The last top link in your shop is entitled "Item Gallery". Item Galleries are something like a shop... but you don't sell anything. You collect items that are a like and put them together in a shop to show everyone. We're not going to go too deep into this however... Sorry. =(

---------------------------------------------------------------

The next link on the yellow bar looks like a giant house. It will take you to the Guilds home page. You can find the perfect guild for you here, or create your own. Feel free to read up more on guilds in other guides. You can view our guild guide by clicking here.

---------------------------------------------------------------

The next link on the yellow bar looks like a mallet. It will take you to the Auction area of the site. Here you can bid on auctions or start your own. . There are a bunch of text links on towards the top. The first one will take you to the Auction Home Page. Here is a walkthrough of all the links:
  • All Auctions : All auctions lists all the auctions currently in progress. On the bottom of the main links are more links like auctions 1-20, etc. etc. Those just list all the auctions in progress because putting ALL the auctions on one page would be out of the question since there are over 100's of thousands progressing at once. The auctions are listed by how much time is left in that auction. The auctions with the least time left are listed first, etc. etc. There are 7 categories. Auc. No., Item, Owner, Time left, Last Bid, Current Price, and Last bidder.
    • Auc No. - Basically the ## of the auction. The auction ## corresponds with the amount of time left in that auction.
    • Item The picture of the item and the name of the item. You can click the name or picture you are shown a page with the item information, the people who have bidded on the item, and it's where YOU bid on the item.
    • Owner The name of the person auctioning off the item. Click the to go to that person's neopets profile.
    • Time Left : How much time is left in the auction. It doesn't tell you the exact time like it used to but an approxamite time like <30 Min
    • Last bid: The price the last person bidded.
    • Current Price: Price you would have to bid if you wanted to bid on the item.
    • Last Bidder Username of the last bidder. You can click the to see that username's profile.

  • My Auctioned Items: This shows the items you are have in the auctions. Same information as listed above.
  • My Bids: Items you are currently bidding on in the auctions. Basically the same information as above.
  • Auction Genie: You can search for a certain item you would like here in this section. You can also lookup someone's username though you could always go up to their userlookup. *shrug* Be sure to spell right.
  • Help: Answers some questions for you on the auctions.
  • Status: This page tells you how many auctions are in neopet's database and have not been processed. If this number is high then expect a longer wait time till your auction is finalised and items and neopoints are exchanged. The auctions process roughly 1,000 auctions every 6 minutes, however more are being added continually.

---------------------------------------------------------------

The center of advertisement on neopets! There's not much to say about it but that you advertise here. The more neopoints you pay the higher it is on the list. It's a fun place to browse.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the place where you can search through other people's shops for items that you need. The links on the top are listed above in the shop section. Type in what you're searching for, choose wheater you're looking for shop or gallery, Choose if you want the exact item or not, and the maximum and lowest price you want your searches you are looking for. Once you put in the item you are looking for you are welcomed with this page with a table with 4 sections.

  • Shop Owner: This is the name of the owner who has the item you are looking for. Click their name to go to their shop.
  • Item: Name of the item.
  • Amount in Stock: Amount of that item the owner has in their store.
  • Price: The most important... THE PRICE! The price of the item the owner is selling.

---------------------------------------------------------------

The battledome is basically where you battle other pets. I'm not going to talk much about it since you can see a guide here. Though the battledome is one of the most famous things in neopia and what your pet can do. This is where wars occur, where your pet tests it's strength, etc. !

---------------------------------------------------------------

Next you come to an image of a faerie. Click it, and you are welcomed with several little huts going all the way up to the mountains. These are the lists of the top about, 700 shops in neopia. How do you get on the top you ask? Well. The larger your shop size, the more chances you will be on the list. The people with the highest shop sizes in neopia are in the top 10.

Clicking on one of the huts brings you to a page much like the noticeboard page (see above). It's actually basically the same thing, except it's more expensive to get on this list. But it gives great advertising to your shops. There are three important places we will be looking at on this map. Here they are:

  • Top 20: The top 20 shops in the marketplace are located at the very lower right hand corner of the screen. They are two little huts next to a tree as shown in figure 4.
  • Soup Faerie: The soup faerie is on the lower left hand corner across from the top 20 shops shown in figure 5. The soup faerie gives out food to those too poor to afford food (meaning below 2000 neopoints). If you have less than 2000 neopoints she will give food to your pets till they are bloated. She's a very nice faerie. :) But - you can't trick her to get food. She knows how many neopoints you have!
  • Shop Wizard: The shop wizard is the center of the market place, as shown in figure 6. Information about the shop wizard is explained above.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Next link on the side bar is something that looks like a cybunny. This brings us to the merchandise page. I won't explain it here because it's already in this part of our in-depth guide. But it's where you find news, etc. on the real world neopets merchandise you can buy.

---------------------------------------------------------------

This page shows the price changes of items in neopian shops. What they do is they look at prices in the shop wizard and change them accordingly. There are 5 categories in this table.

  • Item: This includes the picture of the item and the name of the item. You can click the item to get more information about it, including it's name, it's weight, rarity, and approxamite cost. It also gives you a good description of the item.
  • Time: The time the item price was changed.
  • Old Price: Self-explanatory.
  • New Price: Self-explanatory.
  • Change: The difference between the old and new price, and it tells you wheater the cost of the item went up or down.

---------------------------------------------------------------

The neopian bank is a great place to store your neopints safely without the tax beast, or ghosts, or those stupid bug brothers to come and take your neopints. The best part is - interest! The more neopoints you keep in the bank the more interest your get. Once you enter in all the information you need (address is not important - just make one up) you're ready to go.

Interest is a certain percentage of the amount of neopoints you currently have in your bank. That percentage is added to your account everyday! Only annoying part is you have to go to the bank and remember to collect your interest otherwise you miss out on it. Interest is not added if you do not collect it. You snooze, you lose. v.v

The National Neopian Bank

  • Account Type The account type refers to the amount of neopoints you have. You choose the account type depending on the amount of neopoints you have in the bank. The more neopoints you have, the higher you are on the list. the higher you are - the more interest you get. Here is the list:
    • Ultimate Riches: 5,000,000+ neopoints
    • Neopian Mega-Riches: 2,000,000 - 5,000,000 neopoints
    • Millionare Mega-Platnium: 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 neopoints
    • Diamond Deposit Plus: 500,000 - 1,000,000 neopoints
    • Diamond Deposit: 100,000 - 500,000 neopoints
    • Triple Platnium: 75,000 - 100,000 neopoints
    • Double Platnium: 50,000 - 75,000 neopoints
    • Platnium Extra: 25,000 - 50,000 neopoints
    • Super Gold Plus: 10,000 - 25,000 neopoints
    • Silver Saver: 5,000 - 10,000 neopoints
    • Bronze Saver: 2,500 - 5,000 neopoints
    • Neopian Student: 1,000 - 2,500 neopoints
    • Junior Saver: 0 - 1,000 neopoints

  • Current Balance : Amount of neopoints you currently have in the bank.
  • [Insert account type here] Interest Rate : Amount of interest you get per year according to your account type. The interest is taken off your current balance. The higher up you are in accounts the more your interest percentage will be.
  • Yearly Interest : Amount of neopoints you get a year according the the Interest rate you get a year. This changes since your current balance is always changing so is your yearly interest.

Depositing / Widtrawing, etc. neopoints

  • Deposit Neopoints: Choose the amount of neopoints you wish to deposit and insert that number here and click deposit. The amount of neopoints you put in that box will be taken from your NP on hand and added to your current balance. Remember: The more neopoints in the current balance the more your interest is!
  • Make a Withdrawal: Choose the amount of neopoints you wish to take out of your Current Balance. Put that number in that box and click witdraw. That amount of neopoints will be taken from your current balance and added to your neopoints on hand. Remember: Taking neopoints out of the bank and having it on hand means it is no longer safe from the tax beast, etc. etc.!
  • Collect Daily Interest: Here is where you collect your interest each day. If you actually want to receive the interest you must come here and press "Collect [insert neopoint ## here] of daily interest'. Interest is explained above.

Upgrade your account Here is where you update your account type. Simply put in the amount of neopoints ro meet up to the new standard of neopoints the account wants you to have and press Change account and you're done!

---------------------------------------------------------------

The trading post is the center of all trading in neopets. If you want to trade items - this is where to go! ^^ To get to the trading post you click the little faerie person (jhudiah) and there you are at the trading post. We're going to explain the links on the top that you see.

Help

This helps you tons basically on the trading posts. It answers your questions, etc. ^^

Trading Post Main

This is the homepage for trading. This is where you get to view all the current progress in the trading post. If you want to create a trade click the "Create a new Trade" button. In order to trade you need items of course! Check the items you want to trade, and write in a little bit of what you want in the wishlist box. ;) Click, "Start Trading" and you're off! Remember: All trades are cancelled after two weeks - so if you don't get any offers in that time, then well, your items go back to your inventory!

Once you click "Start Trading" you come back to your Trading Post Main which lists all of your current trades. Here is what the Trading Post main tells you about your post:

  • Number: The number of your lot according to the the number of trades going out so far in neopia.
  • Offers: How many offers are on your lot. You can click to view them.
  • Items and Wishlist: The items you are offering and it displays your wishlist.
  • Link to this Lot: This is the link you can give to all your friends or people on the neoboards to show off your trade.
  • Link to all your lots: A link you can give to people to show all of you trades.

How do you know you have an offer you ask? Well, on the top left hand corner of the screen next to the header (of any page) a picture of the Jhudiah comes up. Click it and it brings you to you trading post main. Next to your lot number should be Some that says, "(There is [insert ## here] offer on this lot)". Click it. You come to a page which shows you several things about the offer. Including the username of the person sending an offer, the number of their offer [random], your lot number, and the items and neopoints they are offering. You can choose wheater to accept or reject the offer. If you reject the offer you will not get anything from that person but have a chance to see more offers. If you accept it - you will get the neopoints and the item the person is offering and they will get your items that you offered.

Browse Lots

Here you can look at other people's trades and offers. You have several options here. Here is what they are:

  • Containing my phrase: Choose wheater you want the item to contain your phrase like Dark nova wand - but you just type in in Dark Nova. You don't need to find the exact phrase and/or item.
  • Identical to my Phrase: You want the EXACT item you are looking for. So if you want a Dark Nova - you will find exactly a dark nova.
  • Username: If you are looking for a trades from a certain person click this.
  • Lot Number: Look for a certain trades lot number.

You are then given the choice to display the search items you are looking for by newest, random, and oldest. You can only use these options for "Containing my phrase" and for "identical to my phrase".

Or... you can look at the 20 newest trades. Which shows the newest trades. Newest on top and oldest on the bottom. You can offer on the lot and once you offer you wait for a reply from the user. You will know when you get a reply from the earth Jhudiah at the top of the screen.

Offers you have Made

Basically view your offers. What you offered for what. You can also witdraw your offer here. You will know if your offer was accepted by the little happy Jhudiah at the top left hand corner of the screen. ^^

Your items

Brings you back to your inventory. o_O Inventory is explained above! ^^

---------------------------------------------------------------

The money tree is where people donate their items and neopets. It works quite simply. Click the item you want and hopefully you'll get them before anyone else. You can submit neopoints by scrolling down below all the items to the bottom of the money tree page and submit the amount of neopoints there. You can donate items from your inventory. (Explained above) If you are fast enough to get an item it will appear in your inventory. ^_^

---------------------------------------------------------------

The SDB box is a great place to keep your items to make sure they're safe. In here, the pant devil can't steal anything, sloth can't turn your items to sludge - anything! How you put items in your inventory is explained above. Items are listed 30 per page. Sometimes if you have a lot of items (espeicially if you are trying to get the pack rat avatar!) and are looking for a certain item - you can use the "Search SDB box tool" below the pages links. The items in your SDB box are listed from when they were updated to the neopet's server. So the oldest items will be first and the newest will be last.

The SDB box will show you the name of the item, the picture, amount of that item you have, category of that item, and the item description. Next option is the remove item. You can either remove one at a time - or you can choose many to remove. Once you have chosen all the items you want to remove scroll to the bottom and select "Move selected items". All items will be transferred to your inventory.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Next are the neohome. It basically looks like a little house. :) Fortunately - we already have a neohome guide which you can see by clicking here.

The main Shops

Well wow! We did that whole bar! Didn't we? Now - I give you a pat on the back for reading all of that - because if you can put up through my horrid writing skills you're amazing. I swear we're almost done. Let's stroll on back to the main shops page.

Now there's this cool thing called restocking. Restocking is buying items for cheaper prices in the shops in the Main shops place and selling them for more expensive prices in your shop. Earning yourself a profit. Buying items from shops is simple enough. Click on the shop you want to go to. Once done that - choose the item you want and click on it. If there are no items in the shop - click the shopkeeper and the shop will refresh. The shops restock at random times.

Once you get an item you type in the price. You can haggle with the shopkeeper meaning buy an item for a lower price than what is asked for - which is a wonderful deal. Be careful though. Asking for too less might not get you the item at all!

Cool places in the Main shops
  • Auction House: Self-explanatory and explained above.
  • Hospital: Seriously now. What kind of hospital is this?! It doesn't heal your pets at all. It just tells you the cures while you go break your back looking for the stupid items! Hem.
  • Neopian Bank: Er. It's a bank! Duh?! Explained above aswell.
  • Rainbow Pool: The Rainbow Pool is an awesome place. It's where you can change the color of your pet or petpet with a paint brush or a petpet paint brush. I'll let you figure out which one is with which one. Not only here can you paint your pet or petpet but you can view a complete listing of all pets and petpets in neopia. Along with all listings of regular paint brushes.

The Bazaar

The bazaar is simply an extension of the main shops - simply because TNT could only put a certain amount of shops in one place. As you can see - the bazaar is crammed. Personally - I love the chocolate shop with it's total cool Willy wonka style! :D

Cool Places in the Bazaar
  • Wizard's Shop: It's a cool place where you can claim your prizes with the redeem code you get from neopets merchandise you buy in the real world. Yes hon. There is such thing as the real world. Neopets isn't the only world. I'm sure. If you don't believe me, turn your chair around with immense difficulty and stare at the real world.
  • Wishing Well: Pretty self explanatory. Throw some neopoints in - and hope you get something!
  • Health food shop!: Hey! Don't laugh! Vegetables and fruit are very cool places. Okay, okay - so this one's a joke.
  • Nerkmid Machine: Nerkmids are little star coins which you - if you're lucky - will find around neopia. Their value is immense and you can sell them for a nifty profit. But the nerkmid machine is where you use them. Put the nerkmid in - and hope for something great in return. Sometimes it can be disappointing like some gross food... other times it can even be a paint brush! =O

Well - that's it. If I haven't blasted your brain into two pieces by now, I think you're amazing. I've blasted myself. I swear. This guide was crazy. If you want more you must be a freak! I mean. Uhm. A very good reader. Hem.

Anyway - enjoy shopping around neopia! Hope I didn't drive ya too crazy! =D
