How to get there
There's a number of ways to get to Pet Central!

1. The Sidebar - click on Pet Central. Easy.
2. Log in - Usually, once you've logged in, you will be re-directed to Pet Central.

Okay. So put your mouse over Pet Central (don't click). You will see four options underneath, like this:

• Main is the same as when you click Pet Central without going to any of those options
• The Calendar is pretty much what says all the yearly events on Neopets (such as pet days and the Annual Usuki Doll Convention.)
• World Events. Some special things happen all around Neopia at a certain time, and this is the page where all those things are listed.
• Neopian Pound, the place where you can bring joy and happiness to the poor abandoned pets by adopting them!

Okay, This guide focuses on the Main page. From left to right, up to down.

Calendar
A handy-dandy calendar! It shows you the events on Neopets for the current month (if it is currently December, or the month of celebrating, it will show all the scheduled events for that month). By clicking on [more] or Full Calendar view, it will take you to the Calendar page (you can also get here from the four options, remember?)

Downloadables
Whenever there's a pet-day, plot, special events or even just for no reason at all, The Neopets Team (TNT) release what they call a downloadable. Backgrounds and Screensavers are for your desktop (backgrounds can also be used for lookups and guild layouts), Buddy icons (also called avatars or display pictures) for those who use Instant Messengers, Fun Images and Music can go on any webpage (on Neopets or otherwise) and Shop Blogs can be for your shop. These are all Neopets-related (obviously) and made by TNT themselves.

Have you ever wanted to draw a Lupe? A Chokato? An Earth Faerie? Or maybe even all of them in the same picture? Go to the How to Draw page for a step-by-step guide on how to draw Neopets, Petpets, Faeries, Neopian Characters and miscellaneous items.

Neopedia
What is the Altador Cup about? Plushie Tycoon? WHO is Sally the Usul? The Neopedia is where you go to find the answer!

"The Neopedia is going to be anything, and everything about Neopets. It is a collection of short stories, poems, articles, and diaries about Neopia, its inhabitants, events, owners and items!"

There are some species that have yet to have a Neopedia entry of their own, but the Neopedia is most definitely not "finished".

Neopets Stats
It has info on the Total Owners (number of members), Total Neopets that have been created, the average number of Neopets per user and number of page views. It's always going up (if you had a site that had over 140 million users, your stats would be going up a lot, wouldn't it?), and when TNT hit the next million/billion (for example, when they hit 200 million users or 500 billion page views), sometimes they have special events on the site to celebrate, so watch out!

Contests and Activities

• Competitions: There are a lot of different competitions on Neopets! If you're handy with graphics, then you can enter the User lookup Spotlight. If you're skilled with a pencil, you can draw your pet and enter the Beauty Spotlight. Are words more of your thing? Then you can always check out the Poetry competition. Even if none of the competitions listed there are for you, always watch out for the Random Contest. From avatar designing to clay-work, cooking to sock-puppets, they'll probably come around to something you might be able to participate in. And if that wasn' enough, you get a spiffy prize if you do manage to win these contests! =D
  
• Word of the Day: Every day, there is a new word chosen randomly from the submissions of other Neopets users. If you manage to use this word in a Caption or in a Story-telling entry, then you may get a prize.
  
• Neopian Pound: It's an alternative to Creating a pet. You can adopt a pet that has been abandoned by another user. This is one of the links in the four options.
