Neofriends ~ By Fabian

Neofriends are, as you might have guessed, friends. On Neopets. It makes sense. But this guide is here to tell you why you would want to add them as Neofriends. Why not just keep them as your friends in your mind, do you really need to have anything that says you even like each other? Well, yes, really, you should. Not only does it show your friends that you care but it is also useful for neomailing and organising anything in a group on Neopets.

So, you've decided you're going to get yourself some Neofriends. You get your friend's account name and you go here and add your friend into the box. So, what now? Well, for starters, you should now be able to see whether that person is online. The box on the left of your screen, the Neofriends module, shows you which of your Neofriends are currently online, in alphabetical order with numbers first and underscores last. However, it only displays 5 usernames so if there are 5 names showing already, anyone else who comes online won't show up unless they precede them in the alphabet. You can see the FAQ question relating to the Neofriends module, here.

Another feature of Neofriends is VIPs. This feature allows you to select 50 VIPs. In the word of TNT, "VIP's are your "select" Neofriends". This is very useful if you have a large collection of Neofriends and want to be able to sort through just your closest ones. One problem with this which I would like to see TNT resolve, is that your VIPs aren't any more important than your ordinary Neofriends when it comes to the Neofriends module. You would think that VIPs would be put to the top of the list of online users if there's only normal Neofriends online, however, this is not the case.

When TNT released the new layout, they promised us another Neofriend feature, to be able to show a random selection of 5 of your Neofriends on your user lookup. It was going to be one of the options on your site preferences page. We know this from the FAQ section relating to the new version of the site, in this question, here. However, you are not able to do it at the time of writing. Whether it is on TNT's to-do list or they have scrapped the idea, we cannot be sure.
