Game Ratings
Fun Rating: 8/10. Perhaps I am a bit biased in rewarding this game with an eight, but I happen to enjoy speed typing, so I therefore find it fair.

NP Rating: 8/10. This too remains a constant eight. You can usually earn between 700-850 np if you are a skilled typer. Slower typers will definitely find trouble with this game, so I recommend practicing your "home row."

Overview
Holy cow! Clockwork Grundos are invading the Space Station, and their only weakness is a particular word which must be typed in order to short circuit their--oh, who cares? Just type away to destroy the evil Grundos! Each Grundo has a word on itself that must be typed for it to go KA-BOOM! Destroy the necessary amount each level to advance. After level five, destroy the evil clockwork Grundo boss!

The Three Types of Grundos
Here is a little table featuring each Grundo, and how many points they will give you for your destruction of them! And no, I wasn't trying to add any subliminal messaging...(ahem, ahem)...

Your Standard Yellow Clockwork Grundo

Your Advanced Red Clockwork Grundo

Your Maniacal Fuchsia Clockwork Grundo

Red clockwork Grundos will oftentimes have upsidedown words for you to type, so watch out for that. And don't forget to bribe olde semis.

Now, each of these three clockwork Grundos will be running towards your glass screen where you are completely and utterly safe (that is, unless they hit your three times). Make sure you type quickly in order to destroy the oncoming Grundos, but also try to get the highest score. For example, if you have one more Grundo left to kill in Level One and you have to choose between either a yellow or a red, choose the latter and score some more!

Level One
Okay, so allow me to explain how Level One looks:

  • Each Grundo will display words with 3 letters.
  • You must type in 12 words to advance to Level Two.

    Level Two
And here's the set-up for Level Two:

  • Each Grundo will display words with 4 letters.
  • You must type in 14 words to advance to Level Three.

    Level Three
    Moving on to Level Three:

  • Each Grundo will display words with 5 letters.
  • You must type in 16 words to advance to Level Four.

    Level Four
Did you beat Level Three? Good job! Now here are the stats for Level Four:

  • Each Grundo will display words with 6 letters.
  • You must type in 18 words to advance to Level Five.

    Level Five
Now for the last standard level:

  • Each Grundo will display words with 7 letters.
  • You must type in 20 words to advance to...THE BOSS!

    Boss
In every good game, there is a boss! And unlike a certain one on Neopets, this one is NOT neverending! All you have to do is type 25 words that are each 8 letters long in 60 seconds ! Also, you will receive 20 points per word you type in. This boss does not run towards you, but merely stands looking scary. Note: I made things bold so that you speed-readers don't have to read any of this extra, funny non-bolded "crap." Well...you're missing out! Anyway, moving on...

    Lives
You get three lives in this game for the first five levels, and just one at the end for the boss. Don't lose them--there's a nice bonus at the end if you don't.

    Bonuses
There are a few splendid little bonuses that you can win in this game.

  • Accuracy Bonus. At the end of every level, you can win up to 200 points for your accuracy at typing. This means you better not accidentally hit the wrong key while typing! If you end up with a 90% accuracy bonus, you will win 180 points for example. However, if your accuracy is perfect, you'll wind up with 200 points. The Boss will award you up to 300 accuracy points based off your percentage, so make sure to type well there too.
  • Life Bonus. At the end of the game, you will receive a bonus based on how many lives you kept during the main five levels. If you had all three lives, you will receive 300 points, two lives gives you 200 points, and one life a mere 100 points.

    Tips

  • Take your time with the boss, but don't let the time run out! If you type slower, you will type more accurately, meaning your bonus will rise. There is no time bonus to worry about, just the sixty seconds in which you must type twenty-five words.
  • If you feel that you may be getting carpal tunnel by playing this too often, you probably are. Take a break!
  • Get a good typing program if you don't know how to type quickly, or practice using the game's Zen Mode (they call it Training Mode). However, in that mode, you only type-off three and four-letter words.
  • Try to type-off the Grundos that are closest to you, unless you're trying for one that will give you many points.
