Introduction

Welcome to Tyrannia, pleasant home for all neopians, with good weather and view... Or not. In this Tyrannia there are some mean pterodactyls and grarrls destroying the houses of the poor inhabitants. And you must stop them! (yes, because you, the little cuddling green pteri, have the ability to stop them).

This is a simple game where you simply have to shot and avoid being touched. Your commands are the arrow keys, to dodge and dive around your opponents, and the space bar, to shoot and *destroy* (muahaha) the enemies.

You can easily get high scores on this game, so it worth to try it sometimes. The NP ratio is 50 NP for each 100 points scored, so you must get a high score to achieve the 1000 NP limit.

Your enemies

Pterodactyls! How cute! They are available on several colours and each colour needs a different amount of shoots to disappear. The brown needs 1 shoot, the green needs 2 and so on. The colours are, by this order: brown, green, blue, white, yellow and red.

Notice that the white pterodactyls don't come in a straight line, like all the others. They come on diagonal and can hit you more than one time in a row. Also, they don't get destroyed into pieces when you shoot them, like the normal ones. They simply disappear.

Each pterodactyl, independently of it's colour, will give you 5 points.
Besides these cute mean flyers there is other enemy: the Grarrl. They come in two sizes (but it's indifferent, because their destruction rate is all the same) and they destroy the houses of the tyrannian people (I don't know if you had noticed yet those little houses under you ^-^). They come from *behind* you, while the pterodactyls come from the opposite side. So, the better thing you can do when a Grarrl appear is to advance a little and dive to the opposite side of the screen (be careful with the walls). Also, you can shot the Grarrl, by putting yourself behind it and running on the moment after. This will make the bad guy stop and be suppressed by the screen, that never stops going on. When you hit the Grarrl you'll get 5 points, so if you're not sure of your skills yet don't try it.

Weapon Upgrades

This is the good part! You start with a weapon, the Ptershot that allows you to destroy the brown pterodactyls. But than you can collect other weapons and to upgrade them, in order to destroy more enemies on a single shot. Each upgrade allows you to destroy each more enemies with one shot: the upgrade 2 will let you stop the green ones; the upgrade 3 will stop the blue pterodactyls and so on.

There are four upgrades for each weapon. After the forth upgrade you can still get more upgrades but they won't have any effect. *Unless* you have the sad idea of grabbing an upgrade of a different colour. That will give you another weapon, starting on the first upgrade. (which is quite bad when you're trying to take red pterodactyls from the screen).

On the image above you can see the "upgrade balls" (those shiny ball things that you must grab to get your upgrade). Each weapon has a different colour upgrade and each one has a different animation (that, somewhat, show you the form of the weapon). And, the most important, each weapon has a different effect.

The Powerup 1 2 3 4

Now, let's describe the effects of each weapon:

  • PterShot - It's a single shot that goes in a straight line. The upgrades turn the shot faster.
  • FireBall - My favourite. It starts to be a single shot, straight. The second and third upgrades give add one and two more shots to the first, which can destroy two/three enemies each time. The final upgrade is like a giant wavy shot that destroys everything it touches.
  • PterPod - It's awesome till the last upgrade. It starts to be a triple shot (very useful to hit Grarrls and stay away from them) and it upgrades to a double shot. The third upgrade fastens the second and the last... horrible. A single powerful shot that stays "on" for just a few seconds.
  • PterBoom - Starts to be a single shot that goes in a mix of straight line with zigzag. The second upgrade doubles the shot and the third fastens it. The last turn the little pink boomerangs in giant pink boomerangs.

Other Tips

The screen never stops going and you never stop flying. Each time you fly faster and your enemies fly faster too. To pass the first level you must get 200 points. The others come each 100 points. Each 500 points you'll get an Extra Life, really useful on the latest levels. It's easier if you press the space bar continually and just focus on the arrow keys. On the first levels you may choose the enemy you'll destroy first, but on the latest levels... Just go in a straight line and dive when you see that a wing is going to touch you. And *never* stop pressing the space bar! Hope you have fun! ^^
