Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of the Darkest Faerie/Altador plot! Here's where the work starts. Hopefully it won't be as grueling as the Lost Desert plot, eh?

Your first task is to visit the Hall of Heroes. Here you'll find statues of all 12 protectors, including the Darkest Faerie. You can click on each of the statues for some information if you'd like, but it's not very important right now.

Ignore the heroes for now, and visit the Yurble in the top right corner.

You approach the janitor. He looks strangely familiar.

"Well hello," he says. "Pretty hall we got here, eh? Lovely statues. Too bad it's so dimly lit. I think this button here is supposed to do something, but I can't figure out what."

Click the button he's talking about; the sun button behind him.

"I TOLD YOU! It doesn't do anything!! Why did you push it anyway?! RAARGH!!" The janitor flails his mop around angrily.

He's still the same old grumpy head! Your work here is done for now, so return to Altador.

Return back to Altador and into the Altadorian Archives. (Use our pop-up links section if you don't like clicking places. Take a visit to Finneus, the lenny on the door to the right.

The archivist says, "Yes, that button in the Hall of Heroes... the janitor has spoken to me about it. I'm not sure what it's supposed to do, either, or how to fix it... perhaps there's a book here in the archives that might tell me something."

You click on the book - which is the book but you can't use it because the doof is using it to stabalize his table. Your next task is to get the book by finding a substitute for it. You need something about three inches in height... I think a rock seems like a good idea, don't you?

Click that little tree as indicated on the picture above. Once you do that, congrats, you're in the Flat Rock Quarry where I'm sure you'll find plenty of rocks. You need however a specefic rock. All the rocks in the quarry are perfectly flat for some odd reason. You're going to have to grab the rock you need and scamper out of here.

Time to head back to the Altadorian Archives with your rock and give it to Finneus. Click on the book again, and now this is what you get:

You replace the book with the Perfectly Flat Three-Inch Rock. It's an exact fit, and the table is completely stable!

Once you do this Finneus will give you the book. It's quite interesting that it is completely blank except for the prologue. There must be a reason to this eh?

You're back in the Altadorian Archives, and it's time to read that book! Click the book, and you finally get ot read it. It's on top of the pedestal, use this image to find it:

There's an odd symbol on one page, and only words on pages 2 and 3. Quite interesting. Use the top corner folds of the book to change pages.

Long ago, before the building of our great city, twelve heroes arose. Each was famous for different deeds of varying natures. The greatest of these heroes is the one whom we now know as King Altador. He, with the aid of the other heroes, founded our illustrious city by the sea.

Before the Great Betrayal, the kingdom of Altador was one of the most glorious places in all Neopia. It was a centre of culture and greatly admired for its dignified citizens. Those blessed times were nearly lost when one of our own, who once called herself an ally and friend to the heroes, turned her heart to darkness and attempted to destroy the city. Only by Jerdana's magic were we saved, though our future remains uncertain.

Within this tome you will find the recorded history of the twelve heroes and how they came to form the Kingdom of Altador. Protect this knowledge well, for it may be all that is left if Jerdana's magic fails and the betrayer succeeds....

Well, with that done you have to return to visit the janitor. He's cooled off from you pushing the button before, so I think you can venture back safely. ;)

"You know, maybe the gears have just gotten dirty or seized up, it's been so long since the button was used. If there were some way to grease the gears, the button might do something again."

Your next task is to find the oil to loosen the gears of the button. You're going to have to find it, and it's behind one of the statues. You might have to click a few times to find it. I found it near King Altador's base.

Behind the statue's base, you notice a jar of oil and a rag.

Take the oil. Return to the janitor, and click to button to oil it.

You push the button. Suddenly, gears begin to grind, and the great ceiling above you opens up, admitting much more light to the room!

The grumpy butt gets angry because you made everything light and you get this message:

"Argh! Now it's light, and I'll have to go back to mopping instead of guarding this button! Curse you!" But you think he means "curse you" in a friendly way.

You'll notice that the Altadorian hall is now filled with light! It looks so much nicer contrary to the yurble's thoughts. I think so atleast. Anyway, here's something a bit interesting which is not at all important now but interesting nonetheless, click on any statue. Then click the very top of that statue. The tippy tip top like shown here:

You get a picture of a ceiling with some odd gems on it or nothing at all. *shrug* I don't know much about it right now. We know that each statue's gems are aligned differently. Anyway, go back to the main map of the Hall of Heroes, and click the stair cases:

After climbing hundreds of stairs, you find yourself in some kind of dome-shaped room atop the Hall of Heroes.

That's all for day 1! Enjoy while it's still easy, teehee. :p
