Weapon Suggestions

By Kevin

This is a basic weapon suggestion guide for people new to the Battledome. This guide will give you tips on recommended weapons - weapons that are cheap for the amount of icons they deal.

Index :: Guide #1 | Guide #2

I think attacking is better than defending so I'll start with that first.

Offense:

Multiple use items (meaning able to use again and again):
Dirty Snow, Radioactive Snow, and Fire Snow (an oxymoron if you ask me) used to be among the best starting items. Now, they aren't worth a visit to the money tree! Scarab Ring is overly favored for the inexperienced. Personally, I liked it better too until I decided to upgrade, but, hey, it's not a bad choice. Two water, two dark, and two physical icons and six fire and physical defensive for 1,700np really isn't bad. Stocking up on two wouldn't disagree with me either, but most would prefer a variety of icons so my suggestion would be to try Lightning Scroll. But really, you only need two multiple use items.

Once-per-Battle (I prefer to call these bombs):
These bombs, so to speak, are used once per battle which is (I think) self- explanatory. When I was starting out, I really liked caustic potion or mud mixture. Each does five icons, but in addition heals one to five health. Great, huh? (One quick tip: Mud Mixture is cheaper and Caustic Potion is less so. In addition, you're only allowed one Caustic Potion, ONE!) Illusens Earth Potion. Another favorite. Six to nine icons. Great bomb.

Once FOREVER!:
In other words, one use. Choose snowballs: exploding, sticky, peach... don't get rotten veggies or snowflakes. They aren't worth nothing in the battledome. Thusly, with that being done, onwards to defense.

Defense:

Normal Defense:
*Sigh*, not appealing to me, but many like the cover of a shield. Any who, some weapons come with defense (like Scarab Ring), got it? Leaf Shield and Earthern Scorchstone cover most of it and Downsize! blocks half of everything they get you with. And that’s it for normal defense. I said I wasn't a fan of this kind of defense.

***Reflecting Defense***:
One of my favorite parts of the battle; throwing back some of the fire, water, ice, rotten veggies, back at them! HA, TAKE THAT! Ultra Dark Reflectorb, Turbo Flame Reflector, Shovel Plus, Double Dryer, and Dual Battle Mirror throws HALF of whatever your opponent has back at him/her. Starting with Ultra Dark Reflectorb to Dual Battle Mirror they reflect dark, fire, earth, wind, and lastly light. I recommend you bring only what you need to the battledome. If it's a two-player fight, then don’t bring anything... really.

Healing:

Item healing:
To heal -- to bring back or restore lost health and soundness. Use Slime Potion and then, if you're feeling a bit thrifty, bring it up a step to the 15 hit points healer, the Bronze Scorchstone. Definitively, recommended.

Faerie Abilities:
Heal. Yup that's it for this part. Heal. Use a Bottled Water Faerie and activate it on Faerie abilities

Miscellaneous:

Stealing:
Use a Purple Sticky Hand. It was a prize from the advent calendar in Year 6. The chances of taking an item from them are about half, in my experience. But be warned! After you use it, your opponent will inherit it after you!

Freezing:
Freezing your opponent makes them skip a turn, quite handy really. And the freezing item is unusable until after the battle. Green Frost Cannon is the most reliable of the cannons under 10,000nps... under 100,000nps in that matter! Just take it and use it.

TIP:
If you have low HP and want an avatar here's what to do: Choose a pet that has one hit point or more. Battle the Inflatable Balthazar and win. The pet you chose to fight will have all its HP restored.
